Black and white image of an artist sitting at her loom. She wears glasses and an apron. The light casts in upon the window creating shadows on her.

Earthborn Textiles is the studio of Danielle Soucie, where naturally dyed and handwoven textiles emerge from a deep curiosity about the natural world. Her work in conceptual textiles is rooted in the belief that natural materials have the power to embody culture and history, carrying stories through fibre, dye, and form.

Danielle lives in what is now colonially called Argenta, BC, where she shares land with her partner, photographer Louis Bockner, and his family. She feels incredibly grateful to be on this land, where she lovingly tends to her alpacas—Penny, Canella, Fran, and Theo—whose fibres become the foundation of her textural weavings. The surrounding forest, abundant with lichen, fungi, barks, cones, and flora, provides both inspiration and natural dyes for her work. Her dye garden is a place of refuge and ongoing learning, where she explores the alchemy of plants to preserve life in colour and texture.

Beyond her studio practice, Danielle is passionate about sharing her knowledge through workshops and immersive experiences. She teaches natural dyeing, fibre processing, and weaving, offering others the opportunity to connect with the land, materials, and traditional textile practices. Through these workshops, she fosters a deeper appreciation for slow, intentional making and the stories woven into every thread.
